How it works
One connection. Vero does the matching. You get a report you can act on and share.
- 1
Connect your POS
Authorize Vero to read your catalog and sales from your point of sale. Takes a few minutes. No hardware, no new app at the register.
- 2
Vero matches your items
Every SKU you sell is matched to the same item at large retailers by UPC, then by model number, then by attributes for house brands that don't share a barcode.
- 3
You get the report
A weekly view of where you're under, where you're over, and by how much. Turn on customer reports and your regulars get the wins in their inbox.
See where you win
Most independents are already cheaper than the big box on a large share of what they sell. They just don't know which items, and neither do their customers.
Vero shows you the list, ranked by how often each item sells, so you know what to put on the endcap and what to put in the report.
Fix where you don't
A short list of the items where you're over, weighted by how much they sell. Fix the five that matter and leave the rest alone.
Vero doesn't change your prices. It tells you what's out of line and what the gap is worth. The decision stays with you.
Send it to your regulars
Turn on customer reports and the contractors who buy from you every week get a short note showing what they saved by shopping with you instead of driving to the big box.
You choose which items go out. Vero never sends anything you haven't approved.
To: Dan (Miller Hardware regular)
Subject: What you saved at Miller's this month
Hi Dan, here's how your August purchases at Miller Hardware compared to Home Depot on the same items.
$28.79 saved in August, on top of not driving 22 minutes each way.
Any supplier, any SKU
Co-op pricing programs compare you on the co-op's catalog and stop when you change distributors. Vero works from what's actually in your POS, whoever you buy it from.
House brands are the hard part. About half of what the big box sells is private label, so a barcode match alone misses most of the shelf. Vero matches those by size, material, rating, and use, and shows you the confidence on each match.
Built for stores whose customers buy for work
The report matters most where the same person buys the same items every week and pays attention to the price.
What it costs
Merchants never pay Vero. Vero earns from card issuers who license itemized transaction data, and shares a portion of that back with participating merchants once volume is there.

Common questions
What does Vero read from my POS?+–
Your item catalog (names, UPCs, prices) and line-item sales. Vero uses this to match your items to comparable ones at large retailers and to deliver itemized receipts to customers who use Vero. Vero does not read your cost of goods, payroll, or customer contact data unless you turn on customer reports and choose who receives them.
Does Vero change my prices?+–
No. Vero reports and ranks. Any price change happens in your POS, by you.
Where do the big box prices come from?+–
Published online prices from each retailer, collected regularly and matched to your items. In-store pricing can differ from online pricing in some regions, and Vero marks any item where that's known to happen.
What if I'm more expensive on most things?+–
Then the customer report probably isn't for you yet, and Vero will say so. The merchant report still is. Most stores find a handful of high-volume items where a small change closes most of the gap.
Which POS systems work?+–
Square today. Clover, Toast, and Epicor Eagle are in progress. If you use something else, tell us at signup and we'll let you know when it's ready.
Know where you stand. Let your regulars know too.
